Egypt receives 1.6 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine - (Daily News Egypt via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Egypt minister of health and population Hala Zayed said that the country has received around 1.6 million doses of Pfizer's coronavirus vaccine provided by the US government through the Covax mechanism, Daily News Egypt reported.

  • Khaled Megahed, assistant minister of health and population for awareness and community outreach explained that Pfizer's vaccine has emergency use approval from the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Medicines Authority.

  • He added that the shipment of vaccines that have been received and will be subjected to analysis in the laboratories of the Egyptian Medicines Authority before distributing it to the 1100 vaccination centres.

  • The shipment is the first in a series provided by the US to Egypt, amounting to about 5 million doses.
