Malaysia has granted conditional approval for the use of COVID-19 vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Sinovac, as reported in Fidelity.
Health authorities are also evaluating the vaccine produced by Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute, and the local bottling facility for Sinovac's vaccine, health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
Sinovac has signed a deal with Malaysia's Pharmaniaga, which will carry out a fill-and-finish process for the vaccine's distribution in the country, before manufacturing it locally later.
The country began its vaccination drive on February 24 using a vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
