Malaysia approves Sinovac, AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines for use - (Fidelity via NewsPoints Desk)

  • Malaysia has granted conditional approval for the use of COVID-19 vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Sinovac, as reported in Fidelity.

  • Health authorities are also evaluating the vaccine produced by Russia's Gamaleya Research Institute, and the local bottling facility for Sinovac's vaccine, health director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

  • Sinovac has signed a deal with Malaysia's Pharmaniaga, which will carry out a fill-and-finish process for the vaccine's distribution in the country, before manufacturing it locally later.

  • The country began its vaccination drive on February 24 using a vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
