J&J in talks to bring COVID-19 vaccine to India with Biological E - source - (Fidelity via NewsPoints Desk)

  • According to a source, Johnson & Johnson is in talks with Biological E to possibly run local trials for its COVID-19 vaccine and manufacture it in India, as reported Fidelity on Tuesday.

  • The source said a deal was not final but that Biological E had the capacity to expand its existing partnership with Johnson & Johnson.

  • Last August, Johnson & Johnson's Janssen unit struck a preliminary deal with Biological E to collaborate on vaccines.

  • Biological E, whose own vaccine candidate is undergoing clinical trials in India, has said it can produce more than 1 billion vaccine doses a year.

  • "We are watching Johnson & Johnson vaccine developments globally and they also have interest in manufacturing in India," the country's top government vaccine official Vinod Kumar Paul said.
