A potential vaccine for the COVID-19 coronavirus will be available in Egypt by September once confirmed effective, reported the Egypt Independent.
According to the news source, presidential adviser Mohamed Awad Tageldin said it has been confirmed that AstraZeneca, through close cooperation with the University of Oxford, has reached the final stages to produce a coronavirus vaccine.
A multinational company with a factory in Egypt is ready to produce the drug, Tageldin added.
AstraZeneca announced that the vaccine would be sold at the production cost, he noted, adding that once the company had announced its goal of distributing the vaccine fairly around the world, Egypt requested a share once the vaccine's effectiveness is demonstrated.
